Why the elephant and the turtle wooden figures?
According to Indian cosmology, an elephant standing on a turtle is a symbol of world stability.
They are a visual reminder of maintaining stability in a changing world.
THE TURTLE is associated with creation, fertility and longevity.
Its slowness is seen as a sign of “festina lente”, which means “make haste slowly”.
It is also attributed cosmological function in the form of being a creature on whose back the Earth rests.
Therefore, it is designed with the round ball/the earth on the back.
When you move the figure forward, it turns the earth slowly and gives you an extra reminder to slow down.
