The compositions in these drawings consist of three distinctly disparate elements. Together they form a sort of unwilling rebus that generates new meanings open for endless interpretation. A semantic feedback loop in the mind’s eye.
The titles refer to the raw material that recedes on the surface of the paper, which the fine line of the pencil then works to bring back a new. It is a formal artistic process of realistic drawing disinterested in photorealism. There is simply the relation between the object and the graphite pencil.
