The salt block from the Himalayas gives your dishes a delicious "salt touch". In addition, you use less salt than when you season the meal yourself. There are several ways to use the salt block, for all temperate serving or cooking.
A heated salt block can be used at the dining table to cook small pieces of fish or meat. For larger pieces, the salt stone can be used in or on the heat source directly. The salt block can be heated in different ways and keep the temperature for about 20 minutes.
Usage on a BBQ / gas grill: Start heating the salt block at low temperatures. After 30 minutes the heat can be increased and after about 45 minutes the block is ready to be used.
The oven salt can also be used in the oven, but it must not be put in a hot oven, as there is a risk that the salt block will crack. Increase the heat to 60 ° C, then raise the temperature every 20 minutes for 1 hour. Max temp: 220 ° C.
The salt block can be used on old stoves and also induction if a so-called induction plate or the salt block handle is used.
Cooled salt block: Place the salt stone in the freezer and after about 30 minutes it is ready to be used for carpaccio, sushi or sashimi for example. Cold desserts also work well on a chilled salt stone.
Clean the salt block has cooled down, it should be carefully rinsed and dried thoroughly. Due to the antibacterial properties of the salt, no detergent is needed. Too much water causes growing cracks in the stone and should therefore never be placed in the dishwasher. Allow the salt stone to dry thoroughly before the next use (approx. 24h).
