Unlike most shiny down jackets, this has a classy matte look in a rich muted colour. It's tough with soft almost wool-like feel that's quite unique. This is apparently down to Bergan's manufacturing process for the Stranda line which is made from a single yarn using consumer waste. This luxurious product is made from recycled yarn which is reassuring and ecologically sound. It's warm and the thick woven shell is thoroughly wind proof. It has an oustanding hood with a high collar and lots of neat adjustments. There's a Recco reflector built into the hood which is a lovely touch and a snow skirt to keep the elements out. Fantastic value for the money. The only negative point (and I'd deduct a half star if I could) are the pockets which are pack-compatible meaning they're just a bit too high and close to the centre zip. Practically this isn't a big deal as I'd most likely be wearing gloves with this. The addition of an internal zipped pocket is neat as many manufacturers forget this in favour of mesh dump pockets only. This Bergans down jacket is an excellent product that I thoroughly recommend. Indeed I liked it so much my family members have bought more Bergans gear for a Norwegian tour.
