At Booztlet, sustainability means that we are committed to responsible business practices with the highest possible standard of ethics, openness, and transparency. Above all, we want to make sustainable choices as simple as possible for our customers.
In our Made With Care category, you will find products that meet Booztlet’s sustainability criteria. Our Made With Care selection combines all styles on Booztlet that have a positive effect on workers, local communities, and the environment. This means that all styles in our Made With Care selection are made with more than 50% of materials that are either organic or recycled, have a low environmental impact, and/or are endorsed by internationally recognized certifications.
The care-why mindset is at the heart of our culture. Knowledge is one thing, but caring is the most important of all. To be curious and challenge why certain things are the way they are, choosing to act on our beliefs and going the extra mile for each other, our customers, and the company. Our Care-why culture is backed by the three corporate values we have set; Trust, freedom, and responsibility.
At Booztlet, we want to make sure it is easy for everyone to make sustainable choices, which is why the Made With Care category was created. Here we draw special attention to textiles and cosmetics that are socially responsible, as well as ecological. In the case of textiles, we take the material composition of the garment, the working conditions of the garment makers, and the chemical management of all chemicals used during processes into consideration. For cosmetics, we examine the list of ingredients and their risks to our environment and human health, the packaging design, and the working conditions the cosmetic manufacturers provide.
Our Made With Care selection combines all our products that meet the sustainability criteria. We have established specific criteria for our different product categories, as each product category has different environmental and social sustainability requirements and practices. We have started publishing the sustainability criteria for Textiles and Cosmetics in August 2021. We are currently working on establishing three more sustainability criteria for our categories footwear, accessories, and home products, to cover a wider range of products available on Booztlet.
With our criteria, we aim for a minimum baseline for what we at Booztlet consider sustainable. The criteria will be updated every year to remain in line with the current best practices and research developments. We are aiming to make the criteria stricter as well, with the goal of ultimately creating a new standard for better traceability, transparency, and accountability of the brands we work with. With the Made With Care range, we aim to increase awareness about sustainability-related challenges in the fashion industry.
The sustainability criteria are a set of ambitious and strict requirements that make up the foundation of our Made With Care range. These criteria apply to our autumn/winter '22 collection. At the moment we are also developing these criteria for Home products, accessories (for example jewellery, sunglasses...), and footwear. Our criteria will be reviewed yearly.
Our criteria for all categories are all based on the current Scandinavian, European, and other international standards and certifications. We focus on highlighting the products that are currently best-in-class and brands that are contributing to a large effort to set a systemic change in production and consumption pattern in the fashion industry.
The textile sustainability criteria focus on three key requirements. In order to have a product in the Made With Care category all of these requirements must be met. Those requirements are:
— Environmental requirements: reviewing the material composition.
— Social requirements: reviewing producing countries, their risk level, and social compliance with international standards.
— Chemical requirements: reviewing the safety and toxicology of the products for consumers, workers, and the environment.
Beauty sustainability criteria focus on three key requirements, all of which must be met in order to have a product in the Made With Care category. Those requirements are:
— Ingredients transparency requirements: looking at ingredient lists, their origin, and consumer safety.
— Packaging requirements: looking at ecodesign, innovation, and environmental claims.
— Social requirements: looking at producing countries, their level of risk, and social compliance with international standards.
The sustainability criteria for Footwear, Accessories and Home products are currently in progress and will be published at a later date.
